Millie and Jacob
I met Jacob while we were studying, Jacob was studying engineering and me doing Early Childhood Teaching. We moved in together a couple of years later and then in 2014 we made the move to Pleasant Point where Jacob had a change of career and went dairy farming. In 2016 we had our son Austin and have since become both business and life partners.
Jacob proposed on my birthday this year when he took Austin and I down to the river and cooked us pancakes. I opened my presents and then Jacob came over with a lolly mixture (my absolute favourite) and he pulled the ring out of the lolly the mixture!
I found the planning process quite hard at times as I only had my Mum and sister to bounce ideas off. But in saying that all the vendors we worked with were very helpful. Having it at The Tannery meant we had Jenna, their amazing coordinator on hand to make sure the night went smoothly and the details were perfect. We met up with her a few times to talk through everything and kept in contact with emails, this made everything run so seamlessly.
The morning of our wedding was spent getting my hair and makeup done at my parents house with Mum and my sister Whitney. Our photographer, Kelly Shakespeare showed up and took some photos at home before picking up Jacob and putting him in position ready for me to meet them for our first look. We spent some time alone with Kelly before Austin came and met us for a few family snaps and we continued taking photos until about five o’clock when we went home for dinner. I got changed into my “engagement party dress’ and off we headed for the festivities.
We had sent out invites inviting everyone to our ‘engagement party’ at The Tannery, so our whole wedding was a surprise to everyone apart from my parents and sister who were in on it. We mingled with our guests for a bit before I snuck away to change into my wedding dress. Our MC gathered everyone together for ‘speeches” and then our wedding celebrant Jane Godfrey took over from there. Everyone started to click when they saw some seats being set up but we still got an amazing reaction from everyone when it was announced that they were actually attending a wedding! Austin and his Aunty Whitney walked up the aisle first and then followed by Dad and I. This was when I was able to see everyones reactions with all of my close friends in tears. We weren’t too sure how the night would play out but it was perfect - I think our mentality of ‘what will be, will be” helped!
Our advice to pass on to couples is to not sweat the small stuff and just enjoy every second of your day!
