Selecting the right makeup artist for YOU

Let me take you to a time, a time where a makeup artist was applying false lashes on me. WITH SUPERGLUE. And another time where I was told to take a lipstick of another MUA for the day and just return it to her the next day. Or another time where my pasty face was subject to the same colour foundation (or do I call it paste) as my super tanned friend.

Two of those situations were from the same experience. Regardless, NOT COOL. Let’s chat about what you should expect from a bridal trial.

My pre-wedding beauty routine, and what I’d do now

Sharing this story with you all has been near the top of my to do list literally as long as I have had my wedding images back, but I didn’t just want to write this post specifically for acne sufferers. Every bride and groom deserve to look and feel their best EVER on their wedding day, so what you will find as you read this ginormous blog are the things I did for my skin in the lead up to my wedding along with things I would do differently, or incorporate now - Oratane or not.

What to Gift the Newlyweds

Sitting at my desk wondering where on earth the last two months have gone made me realise how quickly times change - and I’m not just talking about the day to day, but eras too. We’re out of the eighties and in the 2K's now, so unless you’re stuck in a time warp it’s quite possibly time to get with the programme and understand that something for the home may not be the best option for newly weds.

Jess and Ryan

Ryan and I met in my home town of Brisbane. He was over on a work trip planting trees in North Queensland, and just so happened to know my cousin - who lived with us. Shortly after his arrival, Ryan made the move to live with my family and one night we got talking after I came home from a party. We totally hit it off, and the rest was pretty much history - but not before Ryan asked my dad if it was ok to date me! A year later I made the move with Ryan to his hometown, Christchurch.

Your Social Media Guide to the Modern Wedding

These details are all fun and games though right, all part of the entertainment package for lack of better words! However when I think as a couple, and then with my guest hat on too there are some important things to consider.

Ashleigh Jane Hair and Makeup

It seems like a decade ago now, but back in July last year I had the pleasure of entering, and winning Canterbury Bride of the Year. I didn’t know it yet, but come 8am when I knocked on Ashleigh’s door for hair and makeup I was about to meet one of the most genuine, hard working chicks in the business - I literally could have sat in her makeup chair all day - not that I needed to, come midnight my face paint hadn’t budged one bit!
